CRASH Mobilizes Volunteers in Japan

Tokyo, Japan – March 14, 2011 – CRASH (Christian Relief, Assistance, Support, and Hope) volunteers in Tokyo are mobilizing to provide aid to victims of the magnitude 9.0 earthquake that struck the northeastern coast of Japan on Friday, March 11, 2011 at 2:46 PM.

The earthquake was the largest in Japan’s recorded history, resulting in a series of tsunami that reached heights of up to 23 feet and caused widespread damage. The Tohoku region was hardest hit in the coastal cities of Sendai and Fukushima, where hundreds are confirmed dead, and thousands are still missing.

CRASH Japan, working closely with JEMA (the Japanese Evangelical Missionary Association), has a large network of experienced volunteers who know the culture and language. CRASH Japan’s 24-hour fundraising goal is $100,000. In the last few years, CRASH leaders have coordinated relief efforts in China, Haiti, Indonesia, New Zealand, and other major disaster areas.

On Monday, March 14th, CRASH sent four survey teams to the Tohoku region by train, car, and motorcycle as early as 12:00 am to assess the damage, find staging grounds, and make contact with local communities to prioritize their needs. Additional survey teams will be sent out later in the week.

Teams are facing a situation that is complex, dynamic, and challenging. Communication has been difficult. Cell phones in Tokyo are overextended, and service is unavailable in affected disaster areas. Gas and electricity are being rationed in Tokyo and are incredibly scarce in disaster areas. According to CRASH hospitality worker Bola Taylor, food provisions are also short: “There were 150 people waiting in line at the grocery store for simple ramen, rice, and toilet paper. The shelves were all empty; it was very unnerving.”

CRASH Japan is using funds to purchase vital equipment, such as satellite phones, printers, computers, and wireless routers. This equipment will be used to facilitate communication between the Tokyo command center and cities where infrastructure has been weakened or destroyed. According to Intel Coordinator David Sedlacek, satellite phones are the most crucial tool in making contact with disaster areas and isolating relief needs.

A vast majority of Japan identifies religiously as either Buddhist or Shinto, or both. Only 1.5% of Japan’s population identifies as Christian, but churches all over the country have volunteered their resources in a coordinated effort with CRASH to offer aid to those who are suffering.

According to JEMA President Dale Little, “CRASH is the second-to-none relief network in Japan. No other agency is able to assess the needs on the ground like CRASH, and then take steps toward meeting those needs. The effectiveness of CRASH includes linking closely with local churches in Japan.”

JEMA Vice-President Ken Taylor also commented, “CRASH held its first strategy meeting today (March 13). Many were in attendance from mission agencies and other interested parties. There is a spirit of cooperation and desire to assist in reaching those in need effectively, relevantly, and spiritually.”

About the disaster, CRASH Japan director Jonathan Wilson made the following statement: "Many of us are wondering how we can best respond to the news of the earthquake and tsunami that have devastated Japan. As the television screens pour out images, we pour out our hearts to the Creator to take care of this great nation.
CRASH Japan, a non-profit established for just a time as this, exists to help victims of disasters. We have experienced people who know the culture and language on the ground ready to assess the situation and take appropriate action. "The Daniel 9 Prayer" for Japan

All through biblical history, the prophets were known for making prayers of repentance and requesting mercy. Would you join us in praying Daniel 9 over and on behalf of Japan and Asia?

Daniel 9
I prayed to the LORD my God and confessed:
"O Lord, the great and awesome God, who keeps his covenant of love with all who love him and obey his commands, we have sinned and done wrong. We have been wicked and have rebelled; we have turned away from your commands and laws. We have not listened to your servants the prophets, who spoke in your name to our kings, our princes and our fathers, and to all the people of the land.

"Lord, you are righteous, but this day we are covered with shame—the men of Judah and people of Jerusalem and all Israel, both near and far, in all the countries where you have scattered us because of our unfaithfulness to you. Oh Japan, don’t you know that one drop of Jesus’ blood was enough to cover your sins? Just one drop! All it would have taken was one drop but He gave it all. He gave it all.

You’ve been wounded and struck deeply in many different ways but where I wound, I heal says the Lord. Where I wound, I heal. I will make you, if you are willing to go where I will lead, like my Son- the Wounded Healer. For it was by His stripes that you are healed and where your stripes have been the deepest, I will use them to bring the greatest healing to the nations.

I want you to know and get a revelation of how beautiful you are to me. For I do not see you through the same eyes with which you see yourself. I see you through Jesus and you are oh so beautiful to me. Your worship is beautiful. Your songs are beautiful. Your prayers are beautiful. I do not rate your performance or your beauty on the score of a test or how well you perform your ceremonies. I rate you on how you love me. I want to… I am about to release a revelation to the church… to my Japanese bride of how beautiful she is. Oh, just wait. Just wait and see!

Japan, don’t you know you were created to be a worshiping, praying people? You already have houses of prayer on nearly every corner! The thing is, they are presently temples and shrines. You’re just confused about which god is God but that will be remedied soon!

My people, missionaries, the ones who co-labor with Me in this nation, I want to give you a new way to see these things. So many of you have focused on casting out devils and demons from the temples and shrines but I tell you, there’s another way. A more excellent way!

I want to dare you to do it and see what happens!

Instead of spending your time casting out devils and demons (that’s My job anyway) I want to challenge you to simply go stand in front of these places and prophesy to them. Prophesy to the land they are built on… prophesy “You will become a church in the name of Jesus.”

That’s it. It’s so simple. I am going to make this easy for you. Simply prophesy to the land and to creation to come into alignment with My Word and My divine order.

Answered Prayers: "...and O that a spirit of repentance would fall..."

For a number of years now, the Lord has been stirring the hearts of Japanese, Asian and non-Asian alike in the matter of repentance. As a house of prayer, our part in this stirring is to pray this into a daily reality. Since we held our first prayer meeting in November of 2008, God has brought believers across our paths one by one with the same cry of intercession in their hearts and spirits.

In fact, one of the prayer points on our 10+1 prayer list is for a spirit of repentance to fall upon the church of Japan that she may repent for the sins of the church towards the people of Japan and Asia. This is something we've been praying for with diligence for over a year now- having joined ranks with the voices of all those who've ever cried out to the heights of heaven with this matter heavy on their minds.

At the end of the Tokyo 2010 Conference, it seems the Lord set things in motion to cause that prayer to begin to manifest in a very big way. So big, it even made a post on the Elijah List. Please rejoice in the greatness of our God as you read the article in the link below. This indeed is heavens response to golden bowls filled with prayer and incence.

The Truth: Christianity in Japan

Here are some news articles reporting most accurate results of percentage of those claiming Christian beliefs in Japan. The articles were written based on Gallup Polls conducted in 2006.

Why is this important? Because there are reports all over stating the percentage of those who call themselves Christian range from .5-2%. While this may have been true in the past, there is no doubt (based on real experiences) that Jesus is indeed increasing His government in Japan. Especially among the younger generations.

While still trying to locate the results of the original polls by the Gallup association, these news articles reflect the results with consistency.

Please keep in mind, the house church (organic church, simple church, cell groups, etc...) which meets in a wide variety of creative locations is very much alive and well in Japan. The numbers of these groups are challenging to track and record as most are informal meetings of those who prefer, for many reasons, not to go to traditional main stream churches.

What She's Doing Well

For sometime now, it's been on my heart to ask Abba what the church is doing right. When I first got back to the US, that's what I did. I asked God, "What's she doing well?"

The reason? It seemed like so much of what I was hearing and reading was focused on how bad off the church was. How immature she was. How so far off target she was...

Knowing that I personally tend to not respond well when I am in the "there's nothing positive about me" rut I decided to apply that to the church. Hence, the question "What's she doing well?" The following is the response I heard from Holy Spirit:

"She loves me."

"Oh, how she loves me."
"She may not know how to do things the way I want them or even be able to (know how) follow my directions...
... but, she loves me."

"Like a little toddler loves his or her parents...
... she loves me."

"That's what she is doing well."

The association to the reply that I have is very much something I could connect with. You see, for the better part of the last 10 years I have spent myself invested in teaching children. And one of the many lessons that came out of that was how much little ones wanted to follow directions and "get it right" but how so many times, they fell far short of the objective. This, often was due to developing motor skills or comprehension. Other times, it was due to a thing simply being so new that there was no grid for the request and no matter how much the desire was set in tiny hearts to do as asked, they simply couldn't and needed instead to be shown with patience and encouragement how to complete a task.

It was with this picture in my mind that Abba spoke His words, "She loves me. That's what she is doing well."

The point being, He knows we're not "there" yet. He knows, we fall so far short of out goal and the desires in our hearts to follow directions. He knows what we don't know. He knows what we can and can't quite do yet. And while being obedient to the things He's called us to, He is full of knowing that with out His loving and patient guidance, we'll never arrive in that place.

So what does He do? Instead of judging or criticizing His bride for her multitude of failures and shortcomings, He delights in the one thing which is perhaps, most essential to moving the Father's heart. He is glad, that she desires to do well but even more overjoyed that she, His beloved one knows enough to simply love Him with all of her heart.

May we continue to look at the Bride of Christ with these eyes. Not with judgement or harsh words about how badly she's messing up but with eyes that see the heart of the matter. That she loves Him in the midst of her myriad imperfections.

To borrow Abba's words, "Oh how she loves me."
Wow. Does it get any better than that?

God's Rice Field & Building Altars on the Threshing Floor

For sometime now, I've been studying and researching the Father's heart on our location and how it connects with the name of our HOP. The more I pursue this, the more firmly I believe our prophetic destiny as a house of prayer is written into our name and the locations where we met. Please see this link for the first writing. The first place of meeting was in a cafe. A place of eating and feasting called "The Decision." (At the time, it was still known as Art Cafe Decision by most)
That cafe is in an area of Tokyo that hosts the seat of government for the nation of Japan. The name of that area is called Chiyoda-ku.
The name of the area within Chiyoda-ku where The Decision is located is called Kanda.
The English literal translation of the chinese characters for Kanda is as follows:

神 = God

田 = Rice Field

In 1 Chronicles 21, David ended up at a threshing floor. A place where the harvest was brought in and prepared for distribution. In the context of the story, God speaks and instructs David to construct an altar in that place. David purchases the property and does as directed. In the process of making the sacrifice and carrying out the act of worship, fire falls from heaven and burns up the sacrifice in response to David's prayers.

>In 1 Chronicles 22, David makes a decision and determines that this will become the new location for the Temple of the Lord and the place of the altar for Israel's burnt offerings.

Moving forward to 2 Chronicles 7, Solomon has already become king. He has completed building the Temple of the Lord as instructed by his father, David and gone through the process of dedicating the newly completed temple. Before the Solomon and the people, fire again falls upon the altar which compels the people to worship Him all the more. Starting with verse 11, Solomon receives a response from the Lord to his prayers of dedication.

Then the LORD appeared to Solomon by night, and said to him: “I have heard your prayer, and have chosen this place for Myself as a house of sacrifice. When I shut up heaven and there is no rain, or command the locusts to devour the land, or send pestilence among My people, if My people who are called by My name will humble themselves, and pray and seek My face, and turn from their wicked ways, then I will hear from heaven, and will forgive their sin and heal their land. Now My eyes will be open and My ears attentive to prayer made in this place. For now I have chosen and sanctified this house, that My name may be there forever; and My eyes and My heart will be there perpetually.

It is interesting that the altar which David built was one with a purpose of intercession. It is interesting that the altar was needed due to a decision David had made. It is interesting that the altar was built on a place where grain was separated from the chaff. It is interesting that God is the one who chose the location of the altar which later became the temple.

It is interesting that the story of The Altar IHOP, Tokyo so closely shadows some of the themes found in scripture.
And this is the word I believe Abba is continuing to speak to us about it:

I AM the LORD of the Harvest. The grain is mine. The kingdoms of the earth are mine. The governments of the nations are mine. The "field of japan" is mine and my kingdom will be made manifest in the earth.

Q&A: Does IHOP have a meaning?

Question: Does IHOP have a meaning?

Answer: There are technically two ways to read "IHOP" One way is actually from part of a prophetic word given to Mike Bickle, Senior Director, of The International House of Prayer, Kansas City (IHOP-KC) by Bob Jones in the very early days. It goes like this:

I = Intercession

H = Heart of Jesus

O = Offerings to the Poor (i.e. orphans & widows)

P = Prophetic

These are very important elements of the core vision and function of a House of Prayer.

The other way to read "IHOP" is the one most are familiar with and goes like this:

I = International

H = House

O = Of

P = Prayer

The best way to understand "IHOP" is to think of it in the following terms:

An International House of Prayer (IHOP) is a place where the body of Christ can find people who choose to Intercede for the things God puts on their heart to pray. i.e. the lost, human trafficking, 7 mountains, etc... It is a group of people who desire to know and have the true heart of Christ. It is a group of people who are dedicated to giving to the poor and especially helping orphans & widows. It is also a group of people who walk in the prophetic believing this is one means by which they can draw closer to the Father.

Hello once again all!

We are so excited about this new "baby" ... okay- I (as in "me", a.k.a. Jennifer, Jenni, Jen-jen, IHOP Jenni) am SO EXCITED about this new baby.

After a lot of hard work typing, designing, consulting on everything from color to fonts to fire and then re-designing almost all of it... our website is ALMOST done and hopefully will be online soon. As in, by the time I leave Japan on September 10th.

A few of the tribe got a tiny peek last night at our Wednesday prayer & worship session and the result was applause. Yay!

The site will most likely launch in English with some Japanese and more Japanese to follow soon after.

We will then hopefully get the site in in other languages as well... the target right now is to have 4 languages:

Portugese

But, first things first. We gotta get the English done! LOL.

ANNOUNCEMENT: September 2009 Schedule

Hello Tribe!

Yay for small victories! We actually have the schedule available EARLY!

Please note some very important changes to the meeting locations and times coming up this month. These changes will be in effect until further notice so please do your best to remember when and were we'll be meeting. :)

One big change we've been speaking about for awhile now is the change to Monday nights. And, for the record- we are so excited for this! It's a huge step forward for the prayer movement in Japan.

The Altar IHOP, Tokyo will be joining The House of Prayer for All Nations in a joint prayer session which will be hosted by The House of Prayer for All Nations at Shinjuku Shalom Church in Shinjuku, Tokyo.

Please do attend if you can. It's a GREAT opportunity to support and encourage one another. It's also a wonderful way to become more familiar with the Harp & Bowl prayer/worship model. This is on example of how Abba is moving to answer our "top 10 list" prayers for unity in the body of christ in Japan. It's one of those things we managed to "pray ourselves into."

Also, Wednesday, September 9th will be my last session before heading off to the US for the next 6-12 months. I will first go to our sister HOP (The Altar IHOP) in Meadville, Pa. to attend a prayer meeting with all of the HOPs in the state of Pennsylvania and also listen to teaching from Billy Humphrey, Director of IHOP-Atlanta. Next, to Zadok House of Prayer (ZHOP) in South Carolina to work with them for awhile and after that, Abba only knows.

To those who can make it, it will be a wonderful blessing to have one last prayer session together before I leave Japan. Please come dressed "pretty" cause I plan on taking lots of photos to share with our brothers and sisters back in the states. ;)

Here is an interesting revelation with back to Jerusalem Movement connections:

Standing in Jerusalem, looking out of each of the 12 gates, there are 3 main gates that cover Asia.

Japan, much of China, Mongolia and others are included in the Lion's Gate.
The rest of China, most of India and most of the smaller South-eastern Asian nations are included in the Golden Gate.
What's left of India, Indonesia, Australia & New Zealand are included in the Bethany Gate.

It is interesting that Japan is inside of the Lion's Gate. Surely this is no accident.

Abba, that you would continue to reveal the thoughts of your heart on this- that we may know how and what to pray. May we also have a deeper understanding of Your signs and symbols....

Human Trafficking: Charity Concert in Japan

I am very happy to let you know about a charity benefit concert that will be hosted in Japan to raise funds for children who are involved in human trafficking.

In my opinion, this is another key stone event in relation to things we've been praying for the past 8 months. I also feel, as a house of believers, it's vital that we support this event (and others like it) through attendance & spreading the word as well as in prayer.

Interesting Timing?

This is the second time an earthquake has occurred while I was praying.

The first time was at home alone in the very early hours of the morning after a very, very intense night of prayer.

The second time was this evening (Sunday, August 9.2009) with the altar IHOP, tokyo tribe while in prayer over Japan. At the time the earthquake struck, 7:55pm Japan Time, we were praying for the government of Japan and declaring that the seat of heaven's government was THE seat of government over the nation.

This is significant in many ways though, one large one being due to our location. We meet in Kanda which, when translated literally means "God's field" or "The field of God." Kanda is in Tokyo and is part of the Chiyoda Ward. This area is the seat of government for the nation of Japan and contains all of the major national governmental offices and various departments.

So, the implied translation of "Kanda" can be "the field of God's government."

I find it no small irony that the earth shook at exactly the time we were declaring in unity with a small tribe of 10 that Kanda was indeed the field of God's heavenly government made manifest on the earth.

We were praying for the prime minister and the elections coming up at the end of the month. We were praying for God to prepare the hearts of a people who would be worshiping Him soon. We were praying for wisdom, understanding, righteousness, justice and many other things to be made manifest in the government of the nation. We were praying for Abba to prepare the hearts of the people for the day there will be prayer rooms established in the Diet building including the intercessors & musicians whose job's would be full time in those prayer rooms.

We were praying for nothing less than a reformation & transformation of a nation- we were asking for the Kingdom of Heaven to invade Japan....

...could it be that Abba sent us a sign to confirm our prayers have been heard? I would so very much like to say "yes."

これは私が祈っている間に地震が起こった2度目となります。

最初のときは、とても強烈な夜の祈りを終えた後、朝の大変早い時間に自宅に一人でいたときにおこりました。

2度目はこの夜、（２００９年8月9日、日曜日）The Altar IHOP東京の皆様と一緒に、日本のために祈っているときに起こりました。

地震が起こった日本時間7:55pmはちょうど、私たちが日本の政府のために祈り、天国を統治している神様の御座はこの民を統治している御座であると宣言していたときでした。

これはいろいろと意味のあることです。一つは大きく一つは私たちの集会場所に関連しています。

私たちは神田、文字通り訳すと“神の領域”あるいは“神の領土”で集会をしています。

神田は東京にあり、千代田区の一部です。この地域は日本国民の政治の中心であり、すべての主要な政治の事務所と様々な省が置かれています。

ですから、“神田”の訳が示しているのは、神の統治する領域と言うことができます。

私たち10人の小さな群れが一致して、神田は本当に神様の天における統治が地に現される場所であると宣言していた正にその時に地が震えたのは、小さな皮肉な出来事ではないと理解しています。

私たちは日本の首相と、月末に予定されている選挙のために祈っていました。

神様が、まもなく主を崇めるようになるだろう人々の心を整えてくださるように祈っていました。

知恵、理解、正義、公正とその他多くの事が、この民の政府に現されるように祈っていました。

私たちはアバ父に、フルタイムで働くとりなし手とミュージシャンたちがいる祈りの部屋が国会議事堂の中に設立されるその日のために、人々の心を整えてくださるように祈っていました。

私たちは民の改革と変革となることに他ならない、天の御国が日本を侵略するように祈り求めていました。

この地震は、アバ父が私たちの祈りが聞かれているということを確証するために送ってくださったサインであると言えるのではないでしょうか？

私は、“はい、その通りです”と本当に言いたいのです。

Begging your pardon for the extremely late notice. There's been last minute information on a schedule change at Cafe Decision as well as some computer/technical troubles that have made it difficult to get a posting up.

Interestingly enough, I was given an opportunity in June to be part of this movement by working with a film crew as a producer of a music video/documentary project. This project is dedicated to capturing, on film, some of the heart and soul of this movement as well as a little bit more of a cultural twist.

Human Trafficking: Polaris Project Japan Issue No. 24

Here's an awesome report on some positive movement in the human trafficking arena in Japan. Please see below an excerpt from the Polaris Project Japan May 2009 newsletter:

Amazon Japan to Stop Selling Junior Idols DVD

Movies with children are called "junior idols" movies, and the sexual depictions in them have become more extreme in recent years.

The term "child pornography" as used in Act on Punishment of Activities Relating to Child Prostitution and Child Pornography, and the Protection of Children means photographs and recording media which depicts any pose of a child engaged in sexual intercourse or any conduct similar to sexual intercourse. Also, the Act terms child pornography as visual materials with any pose of a child wholly or partially naked.

Although many of the "junior idols" DVDs and photo book will not be against those Acts, introducing young school girls and boys, wearing a revealing, skimpy bikinis or posing for sexual acts are clearly made to arouse or stimulate the viewer's sexual desire.

Polaris Project have researched the photo albums and DVDs on major online store including Amazon Japan. As a result, We made a list of 136 such DVDs and books with 8-17 year-old and requested Amazon Japan to stop selling them.

Responsing the request, Amazon Japan removed 84 items from their online store this May. Polaris Project welcomes the initiative taken by Amazon Japan and will continue to advocate on this issue.

Prayer Focus 2009: Human Trafficking

Starting in October 2008, God began revealing bit by bit the item of prayer we would be focusing on in 2009.

It began at the 6 day conference in The Altar IHOP, Meadville when Billy Humphrey of the Atlanta IHOP shared some of the things his team had been led to pray regarding Human Trafficking in their area.

The adventure that ensued was an intriguing series of conversations, website finds, news articles, magazine articles, pod cast topics, facebook videos, networking connections & links highlighting "human trafficking" as a common thread. It became quite apparent quite quickly this was a series of events the likes of which, none but God could orchestrate.

The final two confirmations coming on January 14th, our second session of the new year. I had asked specifically for God to show us when to start praying on this matter and also for Him to show us who we were up against. Two items that I strongly felt were important as this was no small prayer petition and knew it mean we'd be coming up against some very serious strongholds in Asia as well as Japan.

The answer came during our time of worship when our worship leader for the evening started praying on these things within the first 5-10 minutes of our session. We had not discussed any matter on this topic beforehand and his worship was very much being led by the Spirit.

"Start praying on this from today," was the message loud and clear. So, that's what we did.

Within two weeks from the day we started to pray, we were connected with one of the most active organizations in Japan that deals with the human trafficking issue. Polaris Project Japan

Within a few months, a report was prepared for Exodus Cry (a ministry born out of IHOP-KC dedicated specifically to prayer over human trafficking) and the altar IHOP, tokyo on the status of human trafficking in Japan. The report looked at the history of the nation as a whole and drew connections to generational iniquities and spiritual dynamics in addition to the facts taken from the standard record keeping offices.

In May/June a report was sent out from Polaris Project Japan stating Amazon.com- Japan has agreed to pull 84 items out of a requested 136 items from their website. The items on this list was essentially soft-porn picture books, DVDs and other print items depicting minors aged 8-17. Opportunities have risen to pray for and with individuals who have been involved in the sex entertainment industry in Japan in their past.

And, as of today, God has brought several individuals to the altar IHOP, tokyo who have a passion for working with very broken people. Especially women who have been prostitutes and who have come from some very tough backgrounds.

We have also started talking about preparations for starting an Exodus Cry chapter under the umbrella of the altar IHOP, tokyo which, if all goes well, will be launched sometime before the end of the year... but- we'll see how things go.

Praying the Scriptures: Human Trafficking

Here are some great scriptures we can use to pray over human trafficking which is the altar IHOP, tokyo's big area of prayer focus for 2009.

These scriptures were prepared by Exodus Cry, a division of IHOP-KC, that was launched in late 2008-early 2009.

Some additional scriptures:

Luke 18.7- a cry for justice

Psalm 82.3-5- a cry for justice, a plea for help

Numbers 10.35- a cry for God to rise and scatter His enemies

Exodus 6.1-a promise of deliverance from Pharaoh

2 Samuel 22.48-50-a praise to the God who delivers

Isaiah 63.7-a praise to the God who delivers

Philippians 1.19-confidence in the prayers of the saints for the purposes of God to come forward

"The Jabez Prayer"

"Now Jabez was more honorable than his brothers. His mother had named him Jabez, saying, "I gave birth to him in pain." Jabez cried out to the God of Israel, "Oh, that you would bless me and enlarge my territory! Let your hand be with me, and keep me from harm so that I will be free from pain." And God granted his request."

1 Chronicles 4.9-10

The first time I had ever heard about or read this prayer was back in May 2001, around the time Bruce Wilkinson released the book titled "The Prayer of Jabez, Breaking Through to the Blessed Life."

I remember reading on page 33 where he challenges a group of students at a university in California, USA to ask God for big. He said, "You should ask God for Trinidad... and a DC-10." It was but one sentence and it forever changed the way I looked at praying.

I realized until that point, my prayers, the prayers I'd been taught to pray as I grew up in church, the prayers I heard others praying around me most of the time... they were too small. And because of their smallness, they were in fact a reflection of how we (I specifically) saw God. That the biggest I could expect was a feeble answer to a feeble prayer that affected me, myself and I and not much or anyone else of consequence.

Yet, when I read my bible, there was this God who drew out an entire nation of slaves from the nation in which they were enslaved to. I saw that this same God used one man to change the lives of millions, to birth forward a nation and release the awesomeness of Jehovah into the earth realm.

And here I was going, "God... please fix my life. It sucks."

True, at that time, it totally did. I was very much at the start of reaping a previous 7 year season of bad fruits that I'd so diligently sown much to my ignorance and youth. Though, much else was due to my own stubbornness, pride and anger which took a deep root in my heart. Yet, even in those dreadful seasons of reaping and sowing, God is merciful and his grace is abounding.

He used every one of those difficult days to teach me to pray.

He uses Mr. Wilkinson's book to fuel that process along all the more.

I remember after reading that page 33... I stopped what I was doing, and just sat there going, "God.. these guys asked your for a whole country. A whole island... uh... I'm on an island. I'm in Japan. I'm already here so I don't need a DC-10... but I think, I just may be crazy bold enough to ask you for something."

I continued on something in this vein, "Alright God.... whatever happens... I'll stay in Japan. But, the deal is, you give me Japan if I stay, you give me Japan. Ah... no. Actually, I'm changing my mind. I want Asia. Asking you for only Japan is too small. I want Asia. So, that's the deal. I stay here... endure this horrible hell that I live in right now... make it through (IF I make it through to the other side) and I want Asia in exchange."

"Oh.. and God... we'll need more people. So, send them on the DC-10's or 747's or boats or whatever. Just sent them here too."

Yeah. That's the deal I made with God. Crazy hu?

Tell me about it. But, as I said my life sucked- well... it was way beyond that. It was a living hell and I figured I didn't have much else to loose by asking for some of the most outrageous things I could think up. At the time, asking God for Asia was as close to impossible as I could dream up.

And then, I prayed.... I think as desperately as Jabez himself... "Oh God.... that you would see fit to bless me. I know I've done so much to screw up that I don't even deserve to come before you with this request but, the fact I'm here now asking has got to mark for something. Right? I mean.... you can either kill me now or answer me. There's not much else that can occur."

"And... this territory thing. I don't know what Jabez was referring to when he asked you for increase but, I know ... well, I think I know what I'm asking you for. I want Asia. I want Japan and I want Asia. Somehow, to ask for anything less just seems like an insult to who you are. I want to have my own business so I can give things to people who need them. I want your hand AND your favor to be with me. I won't be able to do anything unless your hand of protection is over me and your favor is with me. And God... I NEED you to keep me from evil... from harm. For my own sake and for the sake of others- that I might not cause pain either to them or to yourself."

We now have a HOP in Tokyo. (Which was born out of much pain and tearful contending.) We are talking about starting to sow into some ministries in other Asian countries... God is bringing connections weekly world wide with other HOPs and ministries... He is indeed answering this prayer.

The next one I suppose ought to be, "Abba... show us what to pray for next.... and how to pray for more specific things inside of this request for Japan & Asia to become your territory. Continue to displace the thrones, powers, authorities, principalities and all others who set themselves up above Your Name in this region that this may be known among the nations as the dwelling place- the territory of the Most High."

Grace & glory to you as we content for His will over the Nations and the Peoples of the earth.

Q&A: Why do I pray with tears?

Question: Why do I pray with tears? There aren't any words that come out and I just cry and cry. Is there any other way to pray?

Answer: This is a type of prayer that many call "travail." And it is actually a blessing to be able to pray in that state.

It is something that is talked about in Romans 8.26 which mentions "groanings that cannot be expressed in words." Often, the only thing we can do is weep and groan in our spirits. Our mouths and minds can't really find words to say or express the things we desire to pray. Basically, it means that we are tapping into the heart of God when we pray and the Holy Spirit is praying through us.

It can also mean that the matter for which we pray is very close and dear to our hearts and brings about deep, deep emotion.

Often, those who have the calling or anointing of intercessory prayer upon their lives will often be found praying through things in this way. One way to look at travail type prayers as though we are giving birth to something in the spirit. This type of prayer can be very exhausting and really, you do feel like you've given birth to something by the end of it.

There are some scriptures that also talk about our tears and how precious they are to God. Those can be found here in:

Psalms 56.8

2 Kings 20.5

Psalm 126.5

Jeremiah 14.17 and many others.

Doing a word search on Biblegateway.com or another similar resource is a good way to see all of the verses that mention the key word "tears" or "groaning."

Prophetic Date: 6/21/2009

It was no small task making the decision to move forward with the altar IHOP, tokyo's growth this past month.

Since our launch, back in November of 2008, it's been a given that we'll be expanding in many ways as we move towards our goal of night and day 24/7.365 intercession over Japan and Asia. Firstly, as Abba leads more people to join us and secondly, by the addition of prayer sessions, prayer & worship sessions and various types of teaching & training encounters.

On June 21, 2009, we marked our first Sunday Night teaching session in which a vision was cast in a stairwell with royal blue carpet cascading down and an automatic motion detecting light. A location just as prophetic and symbolic of things to come as the date.

Among them, that we are on the basement level of a new thing God's doing in Japan. We are fast ascending and heeding the calling He's extended towards us to "come up here my beloved..." That we (the body of christ) still need the keys to open doors... but that they are coming soon. And that we are firmly planted in the river of the water of life that's spoken about in Ezekiel's writings and so, so much more.

The date however being the focus of this posting, has a scripture to match and a very good one at that. Matthew 6.21 which states, "Wherever your treasure is, there the desires of your heart will also be." (NLT)

It is interesting that, before the throne of God, there is an altar containing golden bowls of incense which contain the prayers of the saints presented before Him. It is interesting that the name of this HOP is "the altar." It is also interesting that our focus is such a similar reflection to the things that are in the throne room.

That the prayers of the saints are the treasures placed before Abba on His altar....

That we come to His "altar" to offer up our prayers as sweet incense before him and so often, those offerings... those prayers are a reflection of the treasures we have laid up on the altars of our own hearts.

It's through the act of prayer and humble worship of the King of kings that we transfer those oh so precious cares, concerns and loved ones from one altar to the next. When we lay our hearts, our hopes, our visions and our dreams upon Abba's altar our treasures become His and His treasures become ours. It is as simple as this yet, there is so much more.

What better way than to spend time dwelling in a place literally called "the altar" to represent the location of our most precious possession? Which is and always should be, Him. After all, wasn't He Himself laid up an offering of sacrifice upon an altar once too?

わたしは地上のものから引き上げ、私たちは御国の踊りをするだろう。あなたの霊はわたしの霊と共に踊り、理解はその後来るだろう。わたしの振りを理解しようとしてはいけない。　わたしに包まれなさい。　わたしと共にながされなさい。わたしの熟視にとらえられ、したこともないダンスをするでしょう。

わたしと共にきなさい。あなたがいた過去の場所を離れなさい。そうすれば、わたしのもっている場所に簡単に入れるでしょう。そこにはあなたのテリトリーのダンスに順ずる戦争が襲い掛かってくるでしょう。そこには精神にかたどった要塞があるでしょう。彼らのテリトリーのダンスで雰囲気と土地をかえるでしょう。

わたしの自発性であなたを立たせなさい。わたしは新しいステージをかたどる。わたしの名により踊りなさい。そしてわたしは宣言する。あなたのテリトリーで自由にダンスするとき感情はいやされ、トラウマから解放され、たましい、土地がいやされ、新しい波は天のの御国から解放される。

おどり、わたしの振り付けをしなさい。　地獄の根っこをその門でおとしなさい。それから門を通ってダンスし、道に入り、おおくのものがわたしの過程に参加するだろう。都の門よ　みよ！　わたしは動作とダンスで始まっている。

―あなたの骨をおこさせよ。―

それから、わたしは聞き始めた。　地震だ!　地震だ！　土地はふるえている。　通常のものでない！　アジアにだ！　あなたは震える。アジアの国々が風向きで震えているのをみよう。　この週みるだろう。　アジアのために祈れ。サイクロンと地震がどちらも来る。

私たちはＩｙａｒ　の月に入り、それはイッサカルの油そそぎがリンクしているように。この月のことを主の完全なタイミングにある神聖なときであることを覚えておくことだ。これはあなたをあたえられている贖いを結びつける月である。この月はＶＡＶとよばれ新しい始まりの年のつきと呼ばれます。　あなたがちゃんとこの月にうごけばあとの年も適切に結び付けられる。

これははなたれる月で光が増し加わる。あなたの周りで栄光が増し加わるのをみよ。これは自然にいやしのある月で、また新しい方法であたらしいつよい現象がみつかるとき。そしてまたわたしはかみでありあなたをいやすもの（ＥＸ15：26）が現象を始める。魂を取り扱う月であなたのパーソナリティはこのシーズンに主はあなたを最終地へと誘導しアイデンティティを本当に反射してくれるでしょう。あなたの意識を正しいか、間違えかという気の配りから離れさせ、新しい方法が生きるようにしていきなさい。

Key Prophetic Word: "Dance My New Dance! You Can Fly!"

The LORD would say, "At this key, intersecting time of moving forward, many seem to be hesitating. Many are also snared between two opinions. I am opening and showing you light for new opportunity, but I see some resisting the steps into that place of faith and ministry and prosperity--that is calling out to you. The call will remain extended for several weeks ahead. However, feel My stirring and respond.

"The constrictions around you have stopped you from seeing your runway of advancement. I have come to make room for you to ascend to a new height. Extend your wings. Then extend them again. Stretch them to the left and the right. It is time for you to take flight!

"Let your gift make room for you. Expand into the new. I am more interested in you exercising your gift than in you finding your position at this time. Just as Joseph exercised his gift in prison, the gift made way for his positioning.

"I am sorting out those situations that are presently confining you. I am coming in with a sorting instrument to begin to sort that which has kept evil in your midst working against My best purpose for your life. I will sort out the confusion that is around you. I am sending help now. What you need will be sorted out and your path will be rearranged.

"I AM coming down and cutting through the atmosphere that has been too thick for your vision to progress. I will take you through and over. You will feel water in your desert sand and moisture in your dry atmosphere. I will bring you in to My tent of refreshing and I will settle you in a new way.

"I am choreographing a new dance for you. In the midst of this choreography, you are resisting the moves that I am telling you to make. Quit resisting My move, for you are leaning on your own understanding. The colors of the place that I take you will be much brighter and vibrant than anything you've ever stepped into. Quit resisting the room and the platform that I am asking you to dance in and upon.

"This is a time for new choreographies, new dances and new platforms. Quit resisting Me tearing down the old platforms that you are used to expressing your worship on. I will make you vibrant.

City Gates, Beware! My People are Beginning to Move and Dance!

"There is a dance I AM calling you to that is not dependent on your own understanding. You are resisting ME when you say, 'I don't understand how to do this dance.' If you will get your eyes off your feet and look into My eyes, I will so captivate you by what you see in My eyes that you won't be concerned about the movement of your body. If you will let Me embrace you and bring you so close to Me that you don't have to worry about whether you're making the right move or the wrong move, then you will sense the moves that I AM making.

"I will take you from this earthly realm and we will dance in the Heavens. Your spirit will dance with My Spirit and your understanding will come later. Quit trying to understand My move. Embrace Me. Get in the flow with Me.

Let me captivate you with My gaze and we will do a dance like you've never seen.

"DANCE NOW and you will become more fluid for this next season. I am not structuring you the same way that you have been structured in the past. The fluidity that I have for you will cause you to ease in and move with grace through narrow places.

"Come with Me. Leave the last place you've been and you will ease through and into that place that I have now. There is a war over who will order the dance of your territory. There is a mental structure and stronghold over who will dance in their territories and change the land and atmosphere.

"Let My spontaneity arise in you. I am forming that new platform. Dance in My name, and I declare emotions will be healed and traumas will be released as the dance liberates your territory. A new wave of healing hearts, souls and lands is being released from the Heavenly Throne.

"Dance and represent MY movement. See the roots of hell let go of the gates. Then dance through the gates and into the streets, and many will join My procession.

"City gates, beware! My people are beginning to move and dance!"

"I then began to hear, Earthquakes! Earthquakes! Earthquakes! The ground is shaking. Unusual earthquakes! Asia! Asia, you will now shake! You will see shifting winds that are shaking the nations of Asia. You will see nations shaking this week! Pray for Asia! Since then, they have experienced both cyclones and earthquakes!"

We have entered the month of Iyar which is linked to the Issachar Anointing. This is a month to better understand the secrets of the Lord and get in His perfect timing. This is your connecting month that connects redemptions with giving. This is called the VAV month of the Year of NEW BEGINNINGS! If you move right in this month, the rest of the year connects properly.

This is the month of radiance, when light increases; watch Glory increasing around you. This is the month of Natural Healing and a time to find new ways for new strength to manifest. It is also when "I AM God Your Healer" (Exodus 15:26) begins to manifest. This is a month to deal with the soul, so your personality will really reflect the identity the Lord has destined for you during this season. Let your conscience come alive in a new way to discern right and wrong.

Encouragement: Overcome Low Self Esteem

I have been very concerned that many in these days of new beginnings are having a difficult time in embracing the identity that the Lord is developing in them. I have asked the Lord the question, "Why can't Your people see what You see in them?" He emphatically has said to me, "They have developed low esteem and therefore view themselves from the world's blueprint."

I said, "Lord, but these are good people who love You that are troubling me." He then promptly answered, "But so many have developed such high aspirations for themselves, are so determined to perfect every goal they have in their flesh, and have come to so rely upon themselves, that they have lost the developing, transforming work and ability of My Spirit. For the most part, they consider themselves failures and fill their atmospheres with negative working forces. If only they would focus on allowing My Spirit to help them develop an improved lifestyle, they would find themselves maturing in Me and enjoying the identity that I have developed for them."

I said, "Lord, what is the remedy?" He said, "Make yourself a list of what you would look like if you were filled with joy. Then ask Me to help you become or be that which I know you are! You will find you are seeing yourself as new as opposed to the same creature that you continually have measured yourself against in the past. Get to know Me! Align your vision with My vision, and My esteem of you will become your strength."

Prophesy to the Dry Bones!

Recently in Middleton, Ohio (April 24-27, 2008), our worship team wrote a new song about the sound of the Dry Bones coming together! When they were singing this song on Sunday, the Lord began to speak through Keith Pierce, Rebekah Faubion, Janice Swinney, Barbara Wentroble and myself--several of the prophets in the House. All through this prophecy, the singers were prophesying in song.

"I AM knocking upon your door. Get up! Get up! Get up! And even though you have gone to bed, stir yourself to awaken and arise. Cross the floor! Cross the floor! Cross the floor! The day of plenty is upon you. Reach out and meet Me, your Bridegroom, in this day of holy power. I AM calling you to a deeper understanding of what I have created. I have created and placed something deep within the earth--miracles and secrets.

"This is a day when I am calling the groaning of the earth. My earth is groaning and groaning again, and crying out for you to connect. Connect! Connect! The Heavens are open, but I need you to connect the Heavens to the earth. Listen to the earth cry for My glory. Listen to the earth cry glory, glory, glory! See the ancient treasures. See them unlocked. See the hills give up and release the treasures of the land. Cry glory, glory, glory, glory on this earth!

"When the great deep was broken up, the windows of Heaven opened up. I would have you decree the earth is shaking and the Heavens are opening! I AM the Ancient of Days and I AM causing this shaking in the earth to uncover the ancient paths that were laid which My people need to travel this hour. If they will travel the ancient paths, they will uncover the ancient treasures that have been buried. Today, the Ancient of Days will shake the earth and cause the wind to blow to uncover those ancient paths and the ancient treasures of this earth.

"All the places where you go--where it has been like dry bones, where it has been like death to My Spirit in nations, cities, and family units--I AM going to cause life to come back into these places. Where churches have been nothing more than museums, nothing more than dead works, I say this is a time when MY Spirit is coming to loose light. There will be such a release of the miraculous. Watch and see the miracles that I begin to loose that will cause a people to return to Me. I will break many out of dead religion and into the Life of the Spirit.

"I AM loosing a fresh new revival anointing on you in this hour. I have opened the gate to the cage. Step out and soar. There is freedom in the air. Step out and soar and catch the freedom.

"Hear the sound. This is the sound of an army aligning and getting ready to move. This is the sound of the army of Heaven connecting with the army of earth. Hear the sound of visitation. I WILL begin to visit you NOW with healing power and prophetic revelation. I AM creating a sound of boldness in you. My people have been too silent and too slack.

"NOW I AM rising within My people. You will find yourself carrying a new mantle and moving in a new dimension. I WILL open up ways for you. You will witness in new ways. There is a boldness for witnessing right now coming upon you, for the earth and its peoples must hear the witness of the Heavens and YOU will be this witness.

"Some of you have resisted revival because you feel like you are not equipped or are in too small a place, or disconnected and not positioned correctly. I must remind you that I sent a couple to Bethlehem with no room, no place and no connections, and brought forth the redemption of the people of the earth. I had many find what I was doing. Let Me work in you, and others will find you.

"I send lightning and I send thunder. I send My new move when I want. The Word will perform what it has been created to perform. I AM speaking into the spirit of those that are MY Bethlehems today. I WILL come in and do a strange work in this day and release all that I have that this generation will receive.

I then exhorted us to speak to our land, our homes, our businesses and spheres of authority. Cry glory to the street you live on or to your residence. Shout that the ground is beginning to rise up. Say that the land is shifting!

I then began to hear, "Earthquakes! Earthquakes! Earthquakes! The ground is shaking. Unusual earthquakes! Asia! Asia, you will now shake! We got a picture of the people of Japan walking around looking down at the ground, with a dark cloud over their heads... but then Christ's Light shines down on t hem, and they LOOK UP. "Wake up, O sleeper, rise from the dead, and Christ will shine on you." -- Ephesians 5:14
日本のリバイバルのために祈っていたとき、このような絵が見えました。日本の人が地面を見ながら歩き回っているのです。頭の上には黒い雲がおおっています。けれどもキリストの光が彼らの上に輝き、彼らは上を見上げます。

God is the One who will do this, because it is only HIS Light that can shine through! And He will do this!

We got a picture of a choir singing, and at first the choir was singing softly and quietly. But then they started to sing louder and louder... and they sang so loud that the people HAD to hear!

聖歌隊が謳っている絵も見えました。最初はやさしく静かに歌っていましたが、だんだん大きくなっていきました。そして人に耳に入らざるをえないくらい大きな声で歌っていました。

Another picture, of hot gold in peopls' mouths. The gold became so hot in their mouths that they HAD to speak it out, to speak about Jesus Christ.
もうひとつの絵は、人々の口の中にある熱した金でした。口の中の金があまりにも熱くなってきたので、人々はそれを外に出さなければならなくなりました。イエス様について話し始めたのです。

Hello All!

In my zeal and zealousness to get things on my "to-do" list done in addition to having a calendar with holidays from multiple countries I have to confess... "Eee I made a mistake."

The 1st Night Watch session we were scheduled to have on May 24/25, 2009 at my place was made while looking at a holiday in the USA. This means, in Japan, Monday May 25th is NOT a day off for most people. This also means it will be impossible for those currently working in a traditional environment to attend a Night Watch session scheduled at that time.

So, what does this mean exactly?

Great question! Thanks so much for asking. Haha! :-) And yes... I have a plan already worked out.

The plan is: (drum roll please)

May 24/25th will NOT be our first Night Watch session.

LOL! (I feel like a genius for coming up with this plan by the way- hee hee.)

That said, the May schedule and the Night Watch schedule postings will be updated in the next day or two. Please check back Sunday or Monday for the most current and... ahem.... correct revisions.

Finally, please accept my sincere apologies at the oversight and for any inconveniences incurred.

自分のやらなければならない仕事を終わらせるため懸命になっていたのと、その上いろいろな国のカレンダーを持っているのでうっかりしており、ここで告白しなければならないことがでてきました。。。。私は勘違いをしていました。

私の自宅で2009年5月２４ー25日に行うはずの第1回ナイトウォッチ（夜の見張り祈り会）は、私がアメリカのカレンダー上の休日を見ている間に予定をたてました。これはつまり、日本の5月25日の月曜日は、ほとんどの方々にとってはお休みではありません。この意味はまた、伝統的な環境で働いている方々にとっては、その日に予定されているナイトウォッチに参加するのは不可能だということです。

それでは、これはどういうことを言っているのでしょうか？

すばらしい質問です！お尋ねくださってどうもありがとうございます。。。ハハ！私はすでに計画を立て直しました。その計画とは（ドラムの音を鳴らしてください。）5月２４－25日は第1回ナイトウォッチは行われません。ご覧下さい！（ところで、こんな計画を思いつくなんて天才的な感じがしています。－ヘヘッ。）

Q&A: Where does the offering go?

Question: Where does the offering go?

Answer: The offering collections are divided between the HOP and Cafe Decision.

Generally speaking we sow 5,000 yen per session (about $50 USD) into Cafe Decision to help cover rent, utilites, etc...

The additional goes to Jennifer to help cover transportation to and from Tokyo (3,000 yen round trip/$30 USD) and other HOP expenses.

From November 2008 until March 2009 (5 months), all of the offering that was received went to Cafe Decision and was not calculated by the HOP.

Starting from April 2009, all offering given specifically to the Altar IHOP, Tokyo will be calculated, accounted for and distributed accordingly. This is due to the requirements of the mission organization that we are applying with for registry as ministry within the USA.

Side note: This is the same mission organization that covers The Altar IHOP in Meadville, PA. More details to be provided at a later time on this.

I've been in Japan since 1999 and involved with active ministry since about 2004. At this point, I have a pretty fair feeling for the culture and environment of the nation. I think this video is a very, very accurate picture of how things are in this day both inside and outside of the church.

The church is starting to recognize more and more, in order to reach the nation, things have got to change in our approach to "doing" ministry.

This is where the houses of prayer, in their many forms, are a keystone. Churches all over are starting to incorporate "prayer rooms" and reports of houses of prayer getting started are coming from all directions in these last 6 months.

The house of prayer movement starting to sweep over Japan in this hour is one of those vital changes that needs to take place.

If we, as believers, desire to see any manner of lasting change sweep the eastern nations we must firmly fix prayer and time spent with Jesus as an utmost priority establishing it even as the foundation of our walk with Him.

It will be from and within this dwelling place that we- the body of Christ- will emerge with the plans and strategies necessary for disipling and transforming the nations and subsequently the region.

My hope is that through watching this video (it's about 25 minutes) you will have a better idea of how to pray not only for the Japanese people themselves but also, how the church needs to be built up in this season.

Q&A: What is Harp & Bowl style worship?

Question: What is Harp & Bowl worship?

Answer: It is a type of worship that is modeled after Revelations 5:8 which refers to "harps" and "bowls." The "harp" represents music coming from musical instruments. The "bowl" represents the prayers of the saints which are rising up before the throne of God.

An easy way to picture this style of worship is to think of it as prayer that is spoken or sung along with music.

A unique feature of this style worship is that it can be sustained without ceasing for long periods of time. One of the reasons is due to the use of scripture as a song book. In addition, when singing the scriptures, a type of call and response singing is used called antiphonal singing. This is where two semi-independent choirs interact with one another, often singing alternate musical phrases.

An important point to be aware of- the main focus of Harp & Bowl worship is not on the singers or the musicians but on the One being worshiped.

Below are some scripture references that highlight: singers, songs, musical instruments, worship

"the voice of the singers at the watering places. They recite the righteous acts of the LORD, the righteous acts of his warriors in Israel..." Judges 5.11

"David told the leaders of the Levites to appoint their brothers as singers to sing joyful songs, accompanied by musical instruments: lyres, harps and cymbals." 1 Chronicles 15.16

"David, together with the commanders of the army, set apart some of the sons of Asaph, Heman and Jeduthun for the ministry of prophesying, accompanied by harps, lyres and cymbals..." 1 Chronicles 25.1

"All the Levites who were musicians—Asaph, Heman, Jeduthun and their sons and relatives—stood on the east side of the altar, dressed in fine linen and playing cymbals, harps and lyres. They were accompanied by 120 priests sounding trumpets. The trumpeters and singers joined in unison, as with one voice, to give praise and thanks to the LORD. Accompanied by trumpets, cymbals and other instruments, they raised their voices in praise to the LORD and sang: "He is good; his love endures forever." Q&A: Do you do Harp & Bowl style worship?

Question: Do you do harp & bowl style worship?

Answer: Yes and... no.

At the moment, I (Jennifer Gracey) am the only one who plays a musical instrument (guitar) and attends regularly.

I don't consider myself a worship leader or for that matter all that skilled with the guitar (self-taught, started in Jan. 2006) though, the heart and passion I have for worship are the driving forces which compel me to attempt to lead others in any kind of musical God experience. I will say, the Holy Spirit likes to show up :-) so, at the very least- His presence will manifest and that's always a huge blessing!

Harp & Bowl is a rather new concept in Japan as is the HOP model so both are going to have a season of growing into. We have a very loose form of harp & bowl that is definately the begining of what will eventually become the full blown harp & bowl model many are familiar with.

Right now, because of our location, we can't do much musical worship on Monday sessions. However, our Wednesday sessions lend themselves more to the environment for Harp & Bowl style worship.

We do our best with what we've got and are waiting with great expectation for the day Abba sends us a full fledged worship team.

Hi again all!

I got an inquiry the other day as to whether or not I knew if there were any other IHOPs in Asia. To be honest, I had no idea how to answer that. I know of HOPs starting around Tokyo and I know of churches getting into the 24/7 prayer & worship thing but IHOPs in particular... that drew a total blank. That is until about 10 minutes ago when I was struck with the brilliant idea to do a google search for "house of prayer asia." (haha... oh the simple things hey?)

As I'm sure you can imagine, the spiritual climate in Thailand is probably pretty similar to Japan in many ways. i.e. on the frontlines and intense pretty much all the time.

The Altar IHOP, Tokyo is currently meeting at a café in Kanda (Tokyo area) on Monday & Wednesday evenings.

Train Stations, Train Lines & Exit Names:
Please use the JR Kanda station (west exit)

Easiest Route:
Ginza Subway Line

Get off the train and look for the exit at the end of the platform that has stairs leading upwards. This will take you to the ticket gates which lead to exit #5. Special Note: this subway exit closes at 9pm

Go up the exit #5 stairs to street level. On your left will be a large street. On your right will be some shops.

Directly behind you, there will be an am/pm convenience store, a smaller side street between you and the am/pm and a large intersection/crosswalk.

Walk across large intersection/crosswalk (traffic light #1) and follow the smaller side street until you come to another large main street. On the way, you will pass by a Japanese restaurant called “Yayoiken” (diagonal from the first am/pm) and a fruit/veg stand (on the right side at the corner of traffic light #2)You will see another am/pm on the right corner.

Directly across from the second am/pm (traffic light #3) is a building on the corner with a big sign called “big vision” (this is in Japanese but a smaller sign just above the entrance is in English)

The café is in that building, the B1 floor. There will be 1 or 2 signs out front of the building entrance with “The Decision” on it. That is the name of the café. Please go down the stairs to the café.

JR Train Lines

Use the west exit. As you pass through the ticket gates, turn to the right. You will go down some steps and be directly on the street level.

Turn to your right and go straight along this street. You will see a Family Mart convenience store on the left corner of the first major road. Cross the intersection/crosswalk and continue to go straight along this street.

You will pass by an office supply store (Office Today) and another convenience store called Sanks. These will both be on the right side of the street.

At the first traffic light after passing Sanks convenience store, turn left.

Go straight on this street until you come to another traffic light and a large intersection/crosswalk. There will be an am/pm convenience store on the right corner.

"The Psalm 18 Prayer"

Note on Prayer
One of the most powerful tools we have for prayer is literally praying the scripture back to God. He goes so far as to tell us this directly through Isaiah 55.11 and also 2 Timothy 3.16. He also tells us of the power that's held within a word through Proverbs 18.21.

Psalm 18: Modified for Japan
Japan loves you, O LORD, for you are her strength. The LORD is her rock, her fortress and her deliverer; Japan's God is her rock, in whom she takes refuge. He is her shield and the horn of her salvation, her stronghold.

Japan calls to the LORD, who is worthy of praise, and she is saved from her enemies. The cords of death entangle her; the torrents of destruction overwhelm her. The cords of the grave coil around her; the snares of death confront her. Suicide harasses her, isolation and conformation torment her. Materialism woos her while emptiness gnaws at her.

In her distress she calls to the LORD; Japan cries to her God for help. From his temple he hears her voice; her cry comes before him, into his ears.

The earth trembles and quakes, and the foundations of the mountains shake; they tremble because he was angry. Smoke rose from his nostrils; consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blaze out of it.

He parts the heavens and comes down; dark clouds are under his feet. He mounts the cherubim and flies; he soares on the wings of the wind. He mades darkness his covering, his canopy around him—the dark rain clouds of the sky.

Out of the brightness of his presence clouds advance, with hailstones and bolts of lightning. The LORD thunderes from heaven; the voice of the Most High resounds. He shoots his arrows and scatteres the enemies, great bolts of lightning and routes them.

The valleys of the sea will be exposed and the foundations of the earth laid bare at your rebuke, O LORD, at the blast of breath from your nostrils.

He is reachng down from on high and taking hold of Japan; he is drawing her out of deep waters rescuing her from her powerful enemy, from her foes, who are too strong for her. They confront her in the day of her disaster, but the LORD is Japan's support.

He is bringing Japan out into a spacious place; he is rescuing Japan

BECAUSE HE DELIGHTES IN HER.

The LORD has dealt with Japan according to the righteousness she is starting to walk in; according to the cleanness of the hands she is begining to cry out for and he is rewarding her for this.

For Japan is becoming a nation that keeps the ways of the LORD; and will no longer continue to do evil by turning from her God. All his laws are before her; she will cease to turn away from his decrees. She will stand and is now begining to stand blameless before him, she is learning to keep herself from sin. The LORD will
reward Japan according to her righteousness, according to the cleanness of her hands in his sight.

To the faithful you show yourself faithful, to the blameless you show yourself blameless, to the pure you show yourself pure, but to the crooked you show yourself shrewd. You save the humble but bring low those whose eyes are haughty.

You, O LORD, keep Japan's lamp burning; her God turns her darkness into light.

With your help she can advance against a troop; with her God she can scale a wall.

As for God, his way is perfect; the word of the LORD is flawless. He is a shield for all who take refuge in him. For who is God besides the LORD? And who is the Rock except our God?

It is God who arms Japan with the strength required to turn to him and it is God who makes her way perfect.

He makes her feet like the feet of a deer; he enables her to stand on the heights. He trains her hands for battle; her arms can bend a bow of bronze.

You give Japan your shield of victory, and your right hand sustains her; you stoop down to make her great. You broaden the path beneath her, so that her ankles do not turn.

She pursues her enemies and will soon overtake them; she will not turn back till they are destroyed. She will crush them so that they cannot rise; they will fall beneath her feet.

You arm Japan with strength for battle; you make her adversaries bow at her feet. You make her enemies turn their backs in flight, and she destroys her foes.

Though they cry for help, but there will be no one to save them— to the LORD, but he will not answer. She will beat them as fine as dust borne on the wind; she will pour them out like mud in the streets. You will deliver Japan from the attacks of the evil one; you will make her well known among the nations; an example to the world of a nation walking in righteousness before you.

As soon as the enemy hears her cry out to you O God, he cringes before her. They all lose heart; they come trembling from their strongholds and flee away as though they were nothing.

The LORD lives! Praise be to Japan's Rock! Exalted be God Japan's Savior! He is the God who avenges her, who subdues the enemy under her, who saves her from her enemies. You are exalting Japan above her foes; from violence and evil, from lust and perversion, from unbelief, rebellion and godlessness of every kind, you are rescuing Japan because of your great love for her.

Therefore

Japan will praise you among the nations, O LORD;

she will sing praises to your name. He gives nations that love him great victories; he shows unfailing kindness to his anointed and to their descendants forever.

Japan Among the Nations
Come Abba, raise up Japan from the dust and ashes that she may lead other Asian nations in worship of the Living God. One drop of Jesus' blood was enough to accomplish this. Send your heavenly host to wake up Japan's slumbering spirit that she may rise from the dead as mighty army of true samurai- loyal until death to the Master.

Japan is called to be a warring tribe- a mighty warrior people who contend for the things of the kindgom yet she has been rendered powerless and complacient under a stupor of false humility and apathy. She has a form of godliness but denys the power Father. She denys the poer because she does not yet have a love relationship with you.

Japan and the Japanese people are only one... ONE revelation away from the LIGHT of LIFE Abba- open the doors of revelation over Japan and the Japanese peoples. Open the doors that they may become who you designed them to be. Open the doors that Japan may fulfill her purpose for this generation as was the case with David. Open the doors of revelation that this people may take their rightful place among the nations.

UPDATE: The Last Few Months

Warm "hellos" to everyone!

Hard to believe April will be our six (6) month anniversary for The Altar IHOP, Tokyo! Amazing things God is doing... we have an average of one new person showing up per week and they've been coming from all directions. We just had two YWAM tribes join us last Wednesday and their teams came from various parts of North America (the US, Canada & Brazil) as well as Switzerland.

Last night, we were also led to pray over and prophesy a release to one of our Japanese tribesmen who's started coming recently. I kept seeing him preaching and starting churches. It was confirmed towards the end of the session when one of our regular members mentioned, "we need to release him." The passion for sharing the gospel this individual has is a rare thing for a Japanese- especially a Japanese guy. Please pray with us that God will continue to raise up the ones who are called to raise up their countrymen.

If you take a look at our First 10 +1 Prayer Directives as listed below, you'll notice point #3 states "God to raise up prophetic warriors- the worshipers, musicians & artists." God is indeed answering our prayers because this individual is an intercessor and an avid fan of Black Gospel music and is a member of a few choir groups.

In February, God sent unexpected visitors from another ministry based cafe' in Tokyo called "Yogen Cafe" which literally means "Prophecy Cafe" in English. One of them is a grad student at a well known university in Tokyo and has been prayer walking her campus. We were able to connect her with another HOP that was started nearby the university in January of 2009. She's also a member of the CIAsia Tribe. (Yogen Cafe doubles as church & cafe' and is part of the CIAsia family)

Crazy cool stuff and we are so lovin' it!

To continue, we've been finding out here and there that mission organizations and churches are getting into the "24/7 prayer thing" and are scheduling prayer sessions at all hours. A few have even gone ahead and done things like "a week of 24/7" which is just absolutely awesome to see.

On our first Monday session in February, I was led to pray prophetically and prophesy Ezekiel 47 which led to a full prophecy based out of Luke 5. The prophecy was that we won't even have to cast our nets because the fish will begin jumping on our boats!

"They have fish called flying fish that fly but they'll have to invent a new name for a new type of fish. These fish will be called jumping fish because they will be fish that jump. We won't even need nets or fishing poles to catch these fish. These jumping fish will just suddenly start jumping in our boats and we won't know what to do about it. These jumping fish will also find themselves breathing better and feeling more alive out of the water and in the bottom of our boats than they ever did in the water they just came from."

The very next Wednesday, Abba sent us two people. One a good friend (J) with whom I've spent many an hour in prayer & worship. He brought a friend (G) with him. These two ended up doing two hours straight of harp & bowl style worship on the guitar. At the end of the evening, one of our tribesmen felt that the Holy Spirit was leading us to anoint one another with oil and pray over each other.

As we did this, the Holy Spirit came even stronger than before. When we got to the last person (G) and began praying for him, I saw the cloud of God even thicker and stronger than it had been in some time. It wasn't until we went out to eat afterwards I discovered why that was.

I was told (G) wasn't a Christian yet but that his siblings were!!! Now, I don't know about you, but that doesn't get any more "jumping fish" to me than it possibly could at that moment. One of the best parts about all of this? (G) told (J) he would like to come again and next time (J) comes to please invite him!!! (G) also commented that the whole experience was like some kind of trance or rave like experience and he thought it was pretty cool.

I realize there is a need for caution and all that but, when you see God moving on someone and wooing them into Him through an avenue with which that individual is already moderately familiar... it's just breathtaking. It cracks me up thinking, "Now, how would this work out in the states? There's no way you'd get an unchurched individual taking part in a full on, intense Holy Spirit manifesting, tongues speaking, people shaking under the power of God harp & bowl prayer/worship session." It just wouldn't happen.

Yet, here's this young guy in the middle of Tokyo, who's about to meet Jesus (getting so totally set up by the way) saying, "that was pretty cool- I would like to come again."

GOD??? ARE YOU SERIOUS? WE GET TO BE A PART OF THIS STUFF YOU ARE DOING HERE? OH-MY-GOSH!! PLEASE, PLEASE, PLEASE MORE!

On a personal note: Abba finally showed confirmed my role as a "lead worshiper"... whew! What a relief THAT has been. I've been struggling for the last year at least with "God, how can I LEAD worship when I can't play any songs that people actually KNOW?? I can't even play songs I KNOW!!!"

It's shocking how slow I am to get things at times. :-)

So... here's the revelation:

There are those of us who are called to lead others in worship as a group through song. These individuals are often (and rightly called) "worship leaders."
Then, there are those of us who are called to lead others in prayer that at times involves pointing the direction through song. Songs that have most likely never been sung before on the planet and will probably never be sung in exactly the same way again. THIS is me.

Yay! I can't tell you how much easier it makes it to know how one functions in this realm. The stress and pressure to perform has completely melted away and has been replaced with a deep knowing and certainty that does not come except through the peace and grace of God.

Daily, Abba reveals to us who we are in Him. This has been such a huge prayer on my heart in this past season. "Abba, show us... teach us... who we are IN you." How good it is that He gives those who love Him that which they ask for.

Truly, it is only through knowing who we are IN Him that we can begin to function as we were designed to- as individuals and then subsequently, the church.

Prophetic Image: a field of dandelions which have gone to seed- the wind comes and blows away all of the seeds so they can be dispersed in different areas to be planted, grow and blow away with the wind

the field of dandelions represents the church, the body of Christ
a dandelion represents individual believers
blowing away represents being surrendered to and being led by the Spirit
being dispersed represents the apostolic calling of the NT church to spread the gospel in areas where there is not yet "...knowledge of the glory of the Lord..."

Prophetic Image: someone pointing a gun at a beautiful woman then, the woman's husband stepping in front of his beloved to protect her... he gets shot and dies, she lives

the gun is the curse of death that has come into the world through sin
the bullet is the fruit of sin
the woman is the bride of Christ
the woman's husband is Jesus
the husband taking the bullet is Jesus' demonstration of His love for his bride and the role of lover & protector he fulfills in His role as the head of the household

some of our prayer focus will be petitioning for a great raising up of laborers to work in Abba's fields, for the harvest to come in and most importantly for the body of Christ to get ready for the harvest by walking in alignment with God's word

Prophetic Image: a dry barren landscape being prayed over by more and more individuals- suddenly, drops of rain begin to fall on by one until it's raining very hard then, the sun comes out and seeds long buried underground start springing up

the dry barren land is asia
the individuals praying are the intercessors God is connecting and drawing together daily
the fields are families, schools, companies, cities, nations, government structures and every manner of organizational structure
the rain is the living water that's released to break the curse of spiritual and physical famine due to sin and rebellion
the sun is the light of life
the seeds are places that the Word has already been planted but as of yet unable to grow for lack of light and water

"The Tsunami Prayer"

The Event

On December 26, 2004 the earth shook just off the coast of Sumatra, Indonesia. It shook as though it were a gong struck by a sledge hammer calling for and demanding humanity's attention. It resonated not only in the natural realm but first and foremost in the spirit realm. There was an undeniable change which took place that day- and while something was toppled among the ruling thrones & powers of the Asian Region, we have yet to see the full manifestation of this event. However, we can all be certain, it is coming soon. Much, much sooner than any of us think.

The Prophecy

The first public prophecy I delivered at The Altar IHOP in Meadville, PA (early February, 2005) was in relationship to the earthquake. During worship, I saw a picture of my hands covering my eyes. At first, I couldn't see anything and it was very dark. Then, I separated my fingers just a bit and was able to see through the cracks. As I saw this picture, I felt the Spirit was saying, "THIS is what has been accomplished in Asia." As I was thinking on this, the following scripture passed through my mind, "The people walking (living) in darkness have seen a great light; on those living in the land of the shadow of death a light has dawned." Isaiah 9.2 (NIV) & Matthew 4.16 (NIV)

The word accompanying this vision was something akin to, "the spiritual darkness that has been covering over Asia is giving way and My LIGHT is starting to shine through." The word followed along the same lines as John 1.5 which states, "The light shines in the darkness, and the darkness can never extinguish it." (NLT)

Below is the prayer I felt compelled to post on a prayer list in response to the earthquake. The original posting of this prayer was January 5, 2005. The list, which I am still a part of, is operated by a ministry called GodSpeak International.

The Prayer

As one who has been living in Asia for the past 6 years (10 as of this blog posting) and has seen with my own eyes the power false religions have over those who claim to practice them, I feel led to pray like this....

You O God who have given over into our hands all power over the enemy, the keys to doors in heaven and on the earth- the words to command that whatsoever is opened in the heavens to be opened and whatsoever is to be closed in the heavens to be closed also, upon the earth. The power to refute every attack and accusation of the enemy, the access to your thrones of Mercy and of Grace. Lips and mouths to petition for nations and your promise therein that if we come to you and ASK of you- that you WILL give us the nations as our inheritance.

You O God, who have caused Kings to write such things as Psalm 144 that state it is YOU who teaches us to battle and to war. You, Mighty God, who gives us access to the weapons in your store rooms and instructs us to use them. You Holy of Holies- who gives us the courage to go out and stand before giants with only a sling and a stone. It is You O God the God of gods, the God of the LIVING we come to in times of need.

Father I speak out and I declare that your will and your perfect plan for the nations of Asia will be accomplished. That NO POWER, NO PRINCIPALITY, NO DOMINION, NOR ANY OTHER WHO COMES TO TAKE UP A STAND AGAINST YOU WILL PROSPER. I say that when the enemy comes in like a flood the LORD will raise up a standard against him. I say that even the LORD LAUGHS at the enemy knowing that his time to afflict and do damage has worn itself dreadfully short. I say that in the midst of this disaster the LORD is STILL seated on his throne and he sees to it that ALL things work themselves out for the good of those who love him and who are CALLED according to his purposes.

I PROCLAIM from the mountain tops that the WORD of the LORD is a double edged SWORD that is LIVING, ACTIVE AND FULL OF POWER- that it is able to cut between soul and spirit, bone and marrow... that the AX is at the root of the tree and the Word of God does not go out and return void but that it FULLY accomplishes the purpose for which it was sent. These weapons of our warfare are not carnal but MIGHTY to the PULLING DOWN of strongholds. I say that the ARMY of the LORD is at the enemies gates and he is powerless to defend them.

LORD GOD OF HEAVEN, by your word I speak and I say the ties which have held these people of Asia and the Middle East to these religions and gods that are not of You... are being severed and cut away. That the curse of death over this region is broken away and canceled out by the blood of Jesus your Only Son. For where the Spirit of the Lord is there is Life and Freedom- there can be no darkness because the LORD is LIGHT. The 3 monkeys representing "see no evil, hear no evil and do no evil" that are prominently displayed in Buddhist temples... these that actually blind and deafen people from understanding or being open to the Word of the LORD- YOU HAVE NO Power here anymore. I say that the blind see, the deaf hear and those who have not up until this time been able to understand or accept Jesus Christ as Lord WILL understand and see him with their own eyes. That they will hear him with their own ears.... I say to you nations of Asia whom satan has had such power over for so long... I say to you enemy who has kept these people in prison and from knowing their GOD for so very many ages, I say to the Host of Heaven who set out to do the will of the Lord upon the earth, there is FREEDOM in this place and the dry bones of Asia in these last days are being raised.

I say that God has come to Asia and the enemy will not stand against Him. For more are on our side than those on the side of the enemy. I say Holy Sprit come down here and fill up this place with people who can't get enough of You. I say where there is light the darkness can NOT overcome it. I stand and I shout from the top of my voice there IS LIGHT IN THIS DARKNESS. For the Lord spoke into the darkness and said, "let there be light" and there was light. In this place O God Let there be light. Not just light God, but such an explosion of it that it causes the entire western world to take notice.

Yes King of kings. You have come to Asia that we may have life and have it abundantly. You restore all that the worms have eaten away. You allow calamity and disaster to prepare hearts and minds for you and your grace. Prepare these hearts. Prepare these minds from the top of Siberia to the tip of the Philippines and every nation and every people that is on the coast of the Pacific Ocean from the North to the South. Come down here O God and do a work, a mighty work in this place that all may see and know and acknowledge YOU ARE THE LORD.

Yes God, it is time for us to rise up and PROCLAIM FREEDOM FOR THE CAPTIVES AND DELIVERANCE FOR THOSE IN CHAINS. It is time O King for the enemy to be put to shame. Let not thee be put to shame O Lord in this place but the enemy who hates thee- let him be put to shame. Let those who would destroy thee be scattered O God, that those who hate thee flee before thee. Yes Lord, rise up and let your enemies be scattered, a footstool- they shall be a footstool at your very feet.

Voices like trumpets and steps of thunder come forth and gather round, proclaim the Glory of the Lord in this place. Who is so Great as our God? From the first of them to the last of them it is HE who lays claim to all things. It was by him that all things have been created, who are you O enemy to withhold from the Lord that which is His? The earth and the fullness therein belong to him. Send forth the captives, send them forth for the Lord God Almighty has need of these. Again, who are you O enemy that you are able to withhold from He?

Our mouths are open God and we are asking you to fill them, we roar for our prey like the lions- like the young lions. For the Kingdom of Heaven suffers violence and the violent take it by force. Praise and Glory and Honor be to the Rider of the White Horse, the Man of War who has trained our fingers to battle and our hands to war. Not by might or by power but by Your Spirit O God for nothing is impossible with you. Holy Holy Holy, all Glory and Honor be to thee O King. Worthy Worthy is the Lamb of Glory- the Lamb who was Slain. For Goodness and Mercy shall follow us all the days of our lives as we sup at the table in the presence of our enemy. Let thy will be done in the heavens and upon the earth, not our will O God but yours. Have your way in Asia Father. Have your way in this place.

In the Name of Jesus to which all will bow their knee- amen and amen.

Japan in Prophecy

"...and in the presence of his associates and the army of Samaria, he said, "What are those feeble Jews doing? Will they restore their wall? Will they offer sacrifices? Will they finish in a day? Can they bring the stones back to life from those heaps of rubble—burned as they are?"
Nemiah 4.2

And this is what God says:

Japan is being rebuilt. For does not my Word say, "I will build my church and the gates of hades shall not overcome it?"

Japan is being rebuilt. Many have said "it's coming, it's coming." And many more have grown weary with waiting saying, "it will not happen, it has not happened." But I AM speaks and I AM says, "Even now, lift up your eyes and look around you. What was not will be."

Though many have laughed, taunted and sent discouragers to discourage. Though armies have stood off to the side creating a great and mighty roar, I tell you, I AM is rebuilding that which has been torn down and destroyed. For I have apointed those who will restore the desolations of generations. I have apointed those who will rebuild. Even now, the work has begun and the craftsmen are being trained again in their arts. They are taking up their crafts- for the tools of their crafts are their weapons. As a soldier wields a sword so wields a painter his brush and a worshiper his voice.

I tell you, I AM is in the business of rebuilding desolate inheritances. And as those who would oppose the work of the Lord in this land stand trying to oppose it, I shall rebuild before their very eyes. As they mock and utter words of contempt, I say as I said back in the days of Nemiah, "Rebuild. Live."

And as I speak, so shall it be for I AM is Lord. And I AM is on the throne.
It has begun. It is no longer "coming soon." For the restoration of all things is here and that restoration is I AM.

The name of the conference was Organic Church Movements Conference and was presented by Church Multiplication Associates (Jan. 26-28, 2007) in Long Beach, CA.

UPDATE: Cafe' Decision & The HOP

Hi again tribe!

This past few weeks at the HOP have been amazing. We've had 3 sessions in 2009 so far (one impromptu session last Thursday) and Abba's presence has really been so strong in each of them.

It's been such a sweet time of prayer & fellowship it's been hard to stop and go home in the evenings- we've all just wanted to linger a few minutes longer before heading back to "life." Oh, how great it will be the day we go 24/7! I just cannot wait for that season to arrive! What a huge celebration we will have and what an amazing victory it will be.

In our sessions, we've had times of personal prophecy and prayers for physical as well as emotional healings. A few of us have even started to notice the overflow of this time in prayer impacting our house church groups. In fact, just this last Saturday, we were able to move in a powerful time of visitation. Abba touched a number of members and set them free from fear. Fear of man specifically but, there was a new freedom from fear in general. It was, as always, such an honor to be involved and have a front row view of the transformation individuals experience when they step into new realms of freedom.

Come to think of it, in the prayer room before our fellowship, we started prophesying, "never the same, after today, never the same." Towards the end of ministry time, the group leader actually said, "after today, we'll never be the same again..." How much more of a confirmation of God's word for the hour can you get than that? Especially when the person who spoke that phrase was not present in the prayer session?

Since December, God has also been doing amazing things at Cafe' Decision.

He's brought a core team of individuals together to really dig in and build up the business through a wide variety of new and very creative avenues. Some of which I am a part of.

This team coming together truly is an amazing miracle. Especially since there was contemplation and much prayer the later part of 2008 over whether or not it was time to close down and do something else. Instead, Monday & Wednesday evenings have been dedicated to the HOP. Tuesday is going to be an English Village event. Thursday will continue as a bible study lead by Mr. John LaDue of YWAM. (Youth With a Mission) Friday & Saturday evenings will be very event focused with special emphasis on hosting "live-house" style performances. And Sunday will maintain itself as a church for those who have met Jesus while at the cafe'.

This church, I'm told, is about 30 individuals and nearly ALL of them Japanese! The cafe' has only been opened for about 3 years! In Japan, this number if new believers is pretty amazing especially considering most churches often average 30 members with only one or two new believers added to their community annually. Yay for God. He truly is building His church through some unusual and unconventional means.

I've written a bit on the cafe' before. Specifically, about the HOP being located in "the upper room underground." I'd love to share with you some additional interesting insights regarding its location.

The district in which Art Cafe' Decision is located happens to be the same district in which much of the government of Japan functions and is housed. This area is known as "Chiyoda-ku" and is one of the 23 ward areas which compile the city of "Tokyo."

Not only that but, twice to date (in 2007 & 2008) teams from Bethel Church in Redding, CA; USA visited the cafe' as part of their mission trip. On one of those trips, a picture was sketched of the cafe building with a tree growing up through the center of it.

The prophecy attached to the picture was of a seed being planted deep and growing into an amazing tree.

I believe we are in the process of seeing this prophecy come to pass- at the very least, the tree is starting to break ground and be a tree rather than a tiny seed.

As has been mentioned in at least one earlier writing, the sign on the front of the building is "Big Vision." Haha! Abba is so good to us. He has indeed given us a BIG Vision for this Cafe' Decision, the HOP and also Japan.

We ARE the upper room underground and we are indeed PLANTED in the field of government for the nation of Japan. In fact, to my best knowledge, the Kanji Characters used for the name of the area literally mean, "God's Field." Or something very close.　神田 is spoken, "Kanda." The first character meaning "God" with the second character meaning "field."

Taking that to the prophetic, The Altar IHOP, Tokyo & Art Cafe' Decision are planted in Abba's field of Government. Hee hee! Can't really get much better than that hey?

"of the increase of His GOVERNMENT, there shall be NO end."

Interesting statement I think- that Abba would plant a cafe dedicated to the "arts" and promiting artists in the center of His field so that it would grow up a fruitful tree. Haha! What a good God. I so love the way He hides His treasures for us to find.

In closing, please do be in prayer for the cafe'. This is one of our 10 main prayer points for the HOP and we could use all the prayers we can get. Both for the HOP team that meets there weekly and also, for the cafe' operations & administrative teams who are working very hard to ensure there is income coming in to pay the bills and keep the cafe' operational.

A is for Apple

What is it about an apple that brings to rememberance the basics? The simplicity? The endless hours spent in kindergarten singing the ABC song while looking at flash card images of apples? A is for apple... A is for the basics. A is for a starting point.

After nearly 6 weeks of prayer sessions, it's safe to say we've finally settled into our own "A" of the ABCs. That is, we've developed a loose structure to our sessions. They are turning out something like this:

Welcome & Introductions
the HOP concept is a very new thing to Japan and bears answering the question, "so, what's a HOP anyway?"

Testimony & Sharing
how God's answered prayers and/or spoken to us over the course of the week- often, scriptures & passages shared will reveal some of the direction prayers will flow durring a session

Prayer Points & Personal Requests
quick reminder/introduction of key prayer points & list up of personal prayer requests for the week
if a white board is available, they are written up there for all to see- this visual aid has proved helpful since English is not the mother tongue of many in our tribe

Brief "How to Pray" & Establish Expectations Announcement
who will start, how we'll finish and that it's okay to pray in tongues, sing, walk around, pray in ones native tongue, speak the scripture, etc...
again, something proven helpful for first time participants

Opening Prayer & Worship
prayer leader opens with worship to follow intermittenly over the course of a session
worship has been somewhat creative up to this point- we've not got a "worship team" yet and it's not always possible to play live music... (we'll get there eventually though)

Wrapping Up

It's definately a good feeling to be able to say, "yes, we've got a system." Now we can really start to focus on our what instead of the how.

UPDATES: We Are One Month Old!!

Just wow~!
How great is our God hey? I mean, it's been an entire month and we started our first prayer meeting on Wednesday evening, November 5th with a grand total of 3 individuals. I do have to say, I feel a bit like the proud parent of a newborn! Haha!

General Report:
In the space of two weeks, we went from one meeting a week to two meetings a week and finished off November with a grand total of 7 prayer sessions. We've also grown from a meager start of 3 individuals to 10 individuals in attendance over the course of our two designated prayer nights. While some of us manage to attend both nights, not all are able to. However, the fact remains that we've had up to 10 people showing up in various combinations to pray during the course of a two session week. Something I'm sure we can all agree, is just great! Certainly many more than I imagined God would send to our new tribe in its first month.

The Tribe:
To supply some insight into the international flavor God has begun pulling together on this prayer team; we've had in attendance:

Holy Spirit Buzz:
There have been several email inquiries and networking opportunities into the "Tokyo HOP" thing. Some of which were in response to the "we're getting started" email I sent out to the mailing list in October. Others were from word of mouth and fliers we passed out during one of the Saturday Night Fellowship gatherings (a house church group.) A few that came from other online applications and networking circles. It's great how news travels when you are plugged into God's network. How wonderful it is to be surprised by Him every day.

Family:
We have become the sister HOP of The Altar International House of Prayer located in Meadville, PA; USA. While this is not officially official, it is "official" if you know what I mean. There is still lots of paperwork and research to be done but we are very much headed in that direction. THANK YOU ABBA! And yay!

Name Change:
We will also be changing our name from "House of Prayer, Tokyo" to "The Altar International House of Prayer, Tokyo." Yay! How exciting is this?

Future Website:
On that note, I've been doing research and planning for our future website and I am happy to say things are coming along reasonably well. As the site is still very much in the planning & initation phase, it will be awhile before it's up and running. I think though, the blog is working well at the moment and there is no need to rush this.

Prophecy:
In one of our most recent sessions, one of our team members was led to pray for the government & leaders of Japan. While in that stream, I ended up prophesying

there will be a Minister of Foreign Affairs who will meet Jesus and make a national public delcaration of this faith change.

It is not known however, whether this is the individual who currently holds this title or one who is yet to come. The timing is all up to God. Additionally, I personally do not know if the current Minister of Foreign Affairs is male or female. In all honesty, it doesn't really matter male or female, now or later. Heck, for all we know, it could be for several Ministers of Foreign Affairs! :-) We all know, what matters is God moving on the hearts and minds of the people in this nation be they in the halls of government or halls of day care centers.

Creative Solutions to Doing HOP in Japan:
In lieu of a Skype chat/discussion with one of our prayer team members just last night, we are going to look into scheduling sessions with mini-prayer teams(2-4 per group)via Skype at intervals during the week. This is a great solution to the "we do not have our own building to meet in" challenge and also works well with the commute time/distance/cost challenge which those who are living in and around Tokyo face. I think this may be a very creative answer to prayers asking God to establish the HOP, Tokyo and also show us how to effectively use the resources we already have access to.

Prayers Please:
In prayer, we can use all the support we can get. Members of our team have been experiencing (in varying degrees) such things as intense headaches, sickness, extreme sleepiness, interestingly timed relationship difficulties and more chaotic than usual work days since we've begun to meet.

This is pretty common demonic reaction and interference over here. It is really a battle of will and endurance for some of our team members to attend the sessions. This is true for those who are and who are not yet fully aware the source of those previously mentioned manifestations.

Basically, the moment people begin to gather to pray here, things are set in motion to discourage and prevent that from happening. Understandably so since every word we speak in prayer is like lightning striking from the sky. It's all good though- you've gotta learn to love the battle to be in on this fight hey?

Prayers for endurance, disernment, divine strategy, God to bring His designated and appointed tribesmen to our camp, financial provision, supernatural grace & wisdom for the leadership and really what ever else comes to mind. If you think it, we could use prayer for it. :-) We aren't picky! (hee hee)

Funding the Kingdom:
Finally, if anyone feels led to support the HOP, Tokyo financially I'd like to share a few immediate needs with you:

1. Printing fees for the HOP info. fliers and other basic documents are about $20 USD or 2,000 JPY per 100 sheets of A4 size paper.

2. Round trip train fare to Tokyo and back from my home is about $24 USD or 2,400 JPY. To attend each session of the HOP (2 sessions a week x 4 weeks) it's about $200 USD or 20,000 JPY a month in commutation expenses.

3. A high quality USB port compatable IC voice recorder (with English directions and buttons) so we can start recording some of our sessions and transcribing prophecy and other important things that transpire. The devices are somewhere between $200-300 USD or 20,000-30,000 JPY.

4. Monthly, Quarterly or Yearly support of any capacity for staffing and basic operations/administration costs of running and setting up a ministry. Tokyo is one of the most expensive cities in the world and the costs involved with doing anything here are higher than average.

The information from these sources dates from 2005 to 2008. The numbers posted on these lists for the population of Tokyo range from 28 million to 34 million individuals who live in and around the metropolis. And surely, it's been noted that on each of these lists, Tokyo is number one. This is every bit as much interesting as it is impressive. One cannot help but find themselves in contemplation, "What are your plans for the largest metropolis in the world Lord?"

In the days of Jonah, the city of Nineveah was also a large city and quite possibly the "Tokyo" of its day and age. In a conversation between God and a very disgruntled Jonah, God clearly spoke His heart to Jonah (Jonah 4.11),

"...Nineveh has more than a hundred and twenty thousand people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and many cattle as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?"

If we apply this to our day and time, we could also read this passage as follows:

"... Tokyo has more than 30 million people who cannot tell their right hand from their left, and uncountable numbers of animals as well. Should I not be concerned about that great city?"

"Should I not be concerned...?," says God.
Can you hear His voice thunder as He speaks those words?

"Should I NOT BE CONCERNED for the city of Tokyo? For the Nation of Japan?..."

What will happen if we begin to pray, as if lives depended on it, for God to raise up and release those who are called to preach and walk in the anointing of Jonah? If we begin to pray for God to raise up and anoint each one of us with the mantle of Jonah that we may go into our own "cities" and release His Word in those places...

We don't have much record of Jonah's sermons other than he issued a call of repentence ahead of impending consequence. (Jonah 3.4) We don't really know exactly how he delivered his message other than he started delivering the message at one location and finished three days later. Scholars even speculate as to whether or not Jonah's message was delivered to other cities which were within the neighboring area or to every home and neighborhood within the city walls. We do know though, the words from Jonah's mouth struck the hammer of the Lord against stony hearts of a people.

And we also know, the words Jonah released into the atmosphere of that great city shook her and resonated within her like a gong. The people, from the greatest to the smallest dressed in garments of humility and fasted. (Jonah 3.5-7)

Let us pray then for this vision to come to pass. For, if God is able to turn a single heart, He is well able to turn a city. If He can turn a city then, turn a nation. And if He can turn a nation, He can also turn an entire region. Even if the city be Tokyo and the region be Asia.

"... nothing can hinder the Lord from saving, whether by many or by few." 1 Samuel 14.6

"Who has ever heard of such a thing? Who has ever seen such things? Can a country be born in a day or a nation be brought forth in a moment?..." Isaiah 66.8

The Spirit and the Bride say, "amen & come Lord Jesus."

The Blue Flame IS a Pilot Light

Leviticus 6.12 states, "The fire on the altar must be kept burning; it must not go out..."

The fire.
On the altar.
Must be.
Kept burning.
It must.
NOT go out.

This was before access to such deep underground treasures as natural gas and oil. This was before oil pipelines, refineries and gas mains. This was before furnaces and boilers. This was before basements to keep the furnaces and boilers in.

The fire.
On the altar.
Must be.
Kept burning.
It must.
NOT go out.

This sounds like a pilot light. And being from a place like Alaska, pilot lights are essential to life. In winter, if the pilot light goes out- the whole house freezes. Water pipes turn to ice. Showers, toilets, washing machines stop working. There is no heat. Stone cold.

The fire.
On the altar.
Must be.
Kept burning.
It must.
NOT go out.

If the water is frozen... if there is no heat source... in winter, in Alaska and places like it- you die. It's a non-negotiable truth in this realm. And if that is a non-negotiable truth in this realm, why would it be different in the next?

If we look at the fire on the altar as it really is- the sacrifice of our praise and worship. The sacrifice from our lips, our hearts... our minds set after Him and IF those sacrifices are not placed upon His altar, the fire will stop burning. It will go out.

The pilot light will be snuffed out because the source of its burning is cut off.

So, what has this to do with anything? Especially a House of Prayer? Well, a picture Abba's been painting the past few years is of "the church" as one building. With the prayer rooms in the basement.

The prayer rooms, the Houses of Prayer- they are the furnace... they are THE pilot light of the building called "church." If there are no prayer rooms, the building goes cold. The activities of the building cease because the water of the Spirit stops flowing. It freezes.

This is on every level. A multi-tired operation which, when brought together, equals the whole.
It is personal.
It is by family. Bible study group. Church fellowship on the corner. It is denominational and ministerial. It is national and it is universal.

The old testament describes the groupings in such terms as families, clans, tribes, etc.

I feel God speaking in this hour with an urgency for His people to understand the absolute necessity of prayer & worship. We have mistakenly understood the function and purpose of both.

Looking at prayer & worship in comparison to a simple pilot light found in one's basement offers insight into a much needed paradigm shift for many of us.

We literally become the pilot light burning as we pray & worship. We burn BLUE! Though small, and most often kept in a hidden part of the building structure, this is the hottest part of a flame. As we burn, we are literally tapped into THE source of OIL rather than A source of oil.
Because we are tapped into THE source of oil, we BURN hot enough to heat the WHOLE house as we interceede.

"For the Lord your God is a consuming fire..." Deuteronomy 4.24
"... consuming fire came from his mouth, burning coals blazed out of it." 2 Samuel 22.9 & Psalm 18.8
"See, the Name of the LORD comes from afar, ... and his tongue is a consuming fire." Isaiah 30.27
"...for our God is a consuming fire." Hebrews 12.29

A characteristic unique to the HOP, Tokyo is our location. I believe it is a prophetic illustration of this truth. Cafe' Decision which currently hosts the HOP, Tokyo is located in the basement of a building called "Big Vision." And inside of Cafe' Decision is a downstairs and an upstairs.

We usually meet for prayer meetings and fellowship gatherings in the upper room underground. To elaborate on the symbolism, the fire of the Spirt fell upon those who were present in the upper room on the day of pentecost. This was THE prayer meeting if that century! (Acts ch 1.12-14 & 2.1-4)

It seems to me, God is making a statement. There is a Big Vision for the upper room which is underground. If that's the case, fire will fall from above and burn up from below. There is high potential for a pretty hot furnace. May we be a people who live daily in the middle of it.

An interesting bit of Pilot Light trivia.
A sign that the gas being burned is pure and without mixture is the blue color of the flame. When it contains orange or yellow flames, there is a source other than pure gas being burned.

UPDATES: First Meetings

We've had two sessions so far. The first on November 5, 2008 and the second on November 12, 2008.

There were three of us the first meeting, an American, a German and a Japanese praying in agreement God will establish this house- both the HOP, Tokyo and Cafe' Decision. The 10 prayer directives were introduced and prayed through.

The second meeting, there were two. An American and a Japanese. Again, the prayer directives were introduced and prayed through. It seemed the Holy Spirit was up for "girls night" and it was a sweet time of fellowship with His heart.

At this writing, I keep "meeting" people who say they are both glad to hear a HOP is getting started in Tokyo and that they've been looking for a place to just "come and pray." I also keep bumping into individuals who are asking, "What's a HOP? I've started hearing about this HOP thing more and more recently and want to know what it is." I can't help but think these are divine moves on the Holy Spirit's chess board. At the very least, little check points to say, "yes, you are going the right way."

I don't know who or when "those who are called" will start to show up but I think a slow, tiny start is actually good. Gives time to lay foundations properly. I keep seeing a vision of a stream. A stream that has barely just begun trickle up to the surface. Exciting because we've tapped in to A SOURCE of water! YAY!

At that, it seems two nights (Wednesday AND Thursday) will become available to us as early as next week! Imagine, doubling our capacity after only two sessions- both of which were introductary! Wow! That must be a record breaker somewhere. Thank you ABBA!!!

Please pray that we use this time well. I sense in my spirit a need to spend some time speaking on HOP concepts and helping people get a good solid grasp of what it's all about.

I also feel a strong need to just keep things simple. Especially at the start.
Focus on Prayer. Worship. Hearing God's voice.
Then, the other stuff.

Wisdom and Revelation required hey? Abba, what's your plan for this hour? I could use some blue prints.

This the first edition of the HOP, Tokyo Logo. It was started by a friend in early 2008. Was able to modify it some and make it into the Japanese Flag. Very happy with the way it turned out so far. :-)

Designed on MS PhotoDraw2000 and MS Publisher 2007. Hoping to get up and running on Adobe CS3 sometime in the near future though... None-the-less, doing well with what is accessable and available now hey?
